Not a custom, and definitely one of the most wacky vehicles Dodge has ever built: the Lil’ Red Express Truck. Never seen that before, expensive now.

There were two of them in various stages of worn out at the last car show I attended. They aren't very impressive in person.

even more rare than the lil’red is the Midnite express.
think of it as the lil red’s dark cousin, equipped only with the big bad 440 that came
optional
in the little red, as t could be had with the 400 as well!
And then there was also the Warlock express. this was just an appearance pack, but it came with bitchin grapics on the side!

they existed because of a loophole in emissions regulations which for a couple of years were less stringent for trucks. they were able to fit it with a 4-barrel carb, better heads, and some parts from the 340. it had a claimed 225 horsepower, while the wheezer 360s in cars had 155. Pretty hot stuff for 1978, that was more powerful than the 400 in the Trans Am.

Yeah I’ve never seen one, I don’t go to truck shows either though. Worlock is my Scottish grandmother’s maiden name.

Ha well now you need one. Only one I’ve ever seen is rotting away in my buddies garage. I didn’t even know what he was talking about when he bought it.

Fastest domestic vehicle on the market at the time. I used to drive by a house that had one in the garage/driveway everyday after high school. I’m sure it’s still there.

It was a bit of brilliance from Dodge, no catalytic converter required.

My ex father-in-law had one of these, and he was the original owner. I think it had 26k miles on it back then. I got to drive it to a car show once, and he encouraged me to do a burnout on the way back. It was a fun truck, but he couldn’t unload it for a decent price (and he tried for years).

If I remember correctly they were the fastest thing around during this time or at least one of the fastest. I vaguely remember them being faster than Corvettes and Ferraris of the era.

I saw one at a car gathering two hours ago. I might have forgotten to take a photo of it as I have seen it before too.

I believe they were the quickest American production car in ‘78 as well.
